Dylan Brody is a writer, humorist, storyteller, and comedian based in Los Angeles. He’s written plays, young adult fiction, the Modern Depression Handbook, and opened for David Sedaris.
He’s released albums on Rooftop Comedy, which is the label that put out my album The Nato Green Party. Our mutual producer, the sweet angel Dominic del Bene, introduced us to one another to do a show together at Doc’s Lab in San Francisco.
Dylan is so compelling to me because he is unapologetically intellectual and literate in his humor, and has carved a path where he continues to produce creative works outside of so many of the fads of comedy and show business. I enjoy his comedy in the same way that I delight in Tom Stoppard.
Here’s a clip:
We talk late into the night about the depths of depression, the power of humor in darkness, and writing Ross Perot jokes for Jay Leno when that was a thing.
