Israeli film director and cinematographer Dror Moreh burst into the consciousness of the American public in 2013 with his Oscar-nominated documentary, "The Gatekeepers," a tour de force investigation into the viability and morality of Israel's occupation of the West Bank as seen by the last six directors of the Shin Bet. He is now one of several prominent Israeli intellectuals who are encouraging open examination of Israel's social policies, political positions, internal conflicts and moral foundations, such as journalists Ari Shavit and Yossi Klein Halevi .
But we wanted to know a little more about what he thinks of life in Israel, as a citizen and native son. When Mr. Moreh came to the JCCSF in November to screen his film and discuss it with a former director of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, 3200Stories snagged him for a few extra questions.
You can also watch the complete conversation between director Dror Moreh and Peter Stein on stage at Kanbar Hall, here.
P.S. If you think this mini-doc looks particularly good, it's because Mr. Moreh insisted on setting up the lighting for the shoot. We could call it a kind of "selfie."
